Green hydrogen for the Main-Tauber district

Back to News

As part of the "H2-Quartier" research project, siz energieplus is currently conducting a feasibility study on the production of green hydrogen in the Main-Tauber district. Particularly innovative: in addition to hydrogen, the by-product oxygen and waste heat are also to be used.

The project was presented to over 100 leading representatives from regional industry, banks, administration and the skilled trades at an information event in Bad Mergentheim on 28.06.2023 and at the annual business meeting of the town of Wertheim on 13.07.2023. The lively participation and surveys conducted on site show that the topic of hydrogen is attracting a great deal of interest in the region.

As the evening's main guest speaker, Prof. Dr.-Ing. M. Norbert Fisch inspired the audience with his keynote speeches and emphasized: "We need green hydrogen to achieve our climate targets." The "Klimaquartier Neue Weststadt" project in Esslingen was used to demonstrate how the practical implementation of local hydrogen production and the use of waste heat to supply buildings with heat can succeed. The above-average supply of renewable energies in the Main-Tauber district compared to Baden-Württemberg provides an excellent basis for taking the concept to the next level.
