With the start of the follow-up project "EnEff Campus 2020" in September 2015, TU Braunschweig is entering the implementation phase of the 2020 master plan. In close coordination between the university management, the state level, the participating specialist institutes and, last but not least, the local energy supplier, a forward-looking package of measures for the energy optimization of the campus will be prepared and gradually implemented over the next three years.

Universities in Germany have a key role to play in achieving climate protection targets. They are not only responsible for teaching and research, but with their extensive and heterogeneous building stock as well as their new buildings, they are also predestined to form a learning laboratory for 'energy-optimized building and operation' (EnOB/ EnBop/ EnEff:Stadt, etc.). In this respect, the "EnEff Campus 2020" research project is the ideal catalyst and multiplier for innovation. Through the two main topics in the research project, evaluation of the implementation scenarios in the campus quarter and the results in the research lab, a continuous exchange takes place in the development, realization and testing of innovative technologies.
